Right, okay, so, we know this is a tender subject and we will approach it with the care necessary. With that in mind, let’s get into both of these questions one at a time. 

Can CBD Help with Erectile Dysfunction? 

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common problem that is thought to affect around 15% of men worldwide every year. Statistics are hazy because for many, it is an embarrassing subject to speak about. However, we have put these statistics here to make it clear, this is not a rare problem, and there’s nothing to feel embarrassed about. 

There are many products around that claim to assist with erectile dysfunction, but very few that are actually proven to do so, and therefore prescribed. CBD, as a fairly new phenomenon (despite having actually been around for a long time), is often in the discussion as a treatment for ED, but is there any basis to those claims? 

The best answer we can give here, honestly, is maybe. CBD and sex is an interesting topic in itself, and you can read our article on it here, but with ED, there’s still a lot of research necessary. 

There is, however, a theory or two behind the suggestion, and it’s certainly interesting enough to deserve mentioning here. 

It has been claimed that CBD could possibly help relax the blood vessels and promote blood flow. This increase in blood flow to the body includes blood flow to the penis, which could potentially combat ED and improve sexual performance. 

CBD is also thought by many to act as an aphrodisiac, be working with the endocannabinoid system, enhancing the cannabinoid receptors ability to bind to naturally occurring cannabinoid which could increase mood, and therefore sex drive, and perhaps assist in the relief of mental-focused problems that can lead to ED in men. 

How to Use CBD to Help Erectile Disfunction

If CBD does help with erectile dysfunction, the next question is how to use it. Now, we are not saying this will work, there are certain sites which will claim that, while also claiming to be verified voices on CBD, but this is simply wrong. There is not enough evidence to prove the effectiveness yet, but if you want to try it, we’re here to tell you how. 

The best way to take CBD for this purpose is probably, as the title suggests, in oil form. A couple of drops under the tongue a little while (30-60 minutes) before intercourse should give time for the potential effects of CBD to take hold and the possible benefits to come to fruition. 

CBD tinctures can also help in the same way as oils, being added to a drink or meal up to an hour before sex. 

CBD Lube

There’s something else to discuss here, and that’s CBD lube. Vaginal dryness can be a cause of ED as well as a course of discomfort and reduced sex drive in women. 

CBD lube is thought by many to provide not only lubrication but also act as a topical application that could, again, increase blood flow to the penis, potentially aiding both partners during sex. 

There is nothing against combining CBD lube with CBD oil under the tongue or in a tincture, to provide a double dose of potential assistance. 

The truth of the matter is that we don’t know if this works, for the simple reason that nobody does yet. 

There is certainly anecdotal evidence to suggest that use can use CBD oil for erectile dysfunction in some cases, and there is some science to back up this possibility, but it will probably be a while until the science has fully caught up and we can know for sure whether CBD is effective.
