CBD is the hot new thing (despite actually not being that new), and as a result, there is a huge amount of information around relating to CBD effects and CBD benefits. But who to believe?
You’ll find contrasting information everywhere, and it normally comes from one of two extremes. On one side, CBD is the greatest thing ever, and is the cure for all ills, whoop whoop CBD life 4eva.
On the other side (yeah, we feel weird about that 4eva bit too, but we’re here now, and we have to learn to live in this new world) CBD is the worst, it’s terrible, nobody should take it, it cures nothing, it’s a fad, it’ll disappear.
So which of the two sides is telling the truth?
As is so often the case with these things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. In all honesty, most of the benefits you may hear or read about are actually potential CBD benefits, in that they are yet to be officially proven.
We’ll get to those, but before that, there is one CBD benefit that has been scientifically proven to the extent that even the FDA has approved it.
CBD For Epilepsy
It has been scientifically proven that CBD helps seizures, and as a result, the FDA have approved the first (and, so far, only) drug containing CBD, epilepsy treatment Epidiolex.
Now, this is a big first step for the CBD world, but it must also be considered that research into CBD to help reduce epileptic seizures was one of the first potential benefits considered by scientists, and the research goes back decades.
Epileptic seizures in both adults and children have been shown to be reduced with the use of CBD, and this is, undoubtedly, exciting news, and, perhaps more importantly, true.
Potential Benefits of CBD
Not this is where things get fun but also kind of vague. There are multiple potential CBD benefits, in fact, a 2018 World Health Organisation report spoke of research that, although in its early stages, had been promising into a variety of conditions including Alzheimer’s, anxiety, depression, Parkinson’s, schizophrenia, and many more.
The potential for CBD to be beneficial for both physical and mental health conditions is, again, very exciting, but again, this is research that is early, and still may be disproven.
Who to Believe?
Now, to the big question of this article, who do you believe when it comes to information on CBD benefits, CBD effects, and more?
The answer is pretty simple and, to be fair, pretty similar to the answer when it comes researching most subjects online, do your research.
Before you believe anything you read about CBD (that includes us), check the validity, check sources, carry out your own research to see if things are being claimed that isn’t true, and come to your own conclusions.
We are not here to tell you that CBD is the best thing ever. We’re not here to convince you to buy all the CBD products.
We consider our main job to be to provide the tools for self-education, basically to give you the information necessary to make an informed decision about whether CBD is the right thing for you.
When it comes the CBD benefits, if and when more research is released, and if other potential benefits become proven benefits, you’ll be the first person we tell about it!
